CSH offers local businesses and organisations specialised services as part of our Supported Employment activities. These services were developed in order to accommodate those employees who may prefer differing employment activities.
Welby Garden Centre
The Garden Centre was established in 1989 with the express intention of creating a viable plant centre as a means of Supported Employment.
The employment opportunities provided by Welby Garden Centre include:
• Retail (customer service and performing sales transactions). Assisting customers to complete their purchase and have an enjoyable experience while supporting the association.
• Nursery work (caring for plants, trees, flowers and shrubs). Propagation and maintenance of plants within the nursery for sale to the general public.
• Work Crews (working as part of a team to deliver gardening or other services)
The purpose of our work crew teams is to offer garden maintenance services to customers throughout the Southern Highlands at excellent rates. Teams of workers under the guidance of Welby Garden Centre supervisors, manage many properties with duties such as lawn mowing, edging, weeding, hedging, planting and much more.
This team provides work opportunities with less complexity for those who may find the garden centre work too challenging.
There is a variety of tasks and contracts undertaken and these can change from one week to the next. However, much consistency is maintained. Our employees gain friendships and conversation while they perform work which is within their abilities.
The Light Packaging Division creates the opportunity for supported employees who find nursery activities difficult, to be paid and productively employed in activities which better suit the individual’s abilities.
The primary contract held by the Light Packaging Division is the processing of the Highlands Post, a free-to-home newspaper, for weekly delivery. We distribute in excess of 15,000 papers for 50 weeks of the year. In addition, the division collates and inserts advertising material. The newspapers are machine wrapped in plastic in preparation for delivery.
Secure Document Destruction
This division undertakes light assembly work and a Secure Document Destruction Service. Local businesses and organisations entrust their document destruction requirements to CSH, knowing they will be reliably and responsibly serviced.
