A Farewell to Two Pillars of the Disability Community

Last week, Challenge Southern Highlands (CSH) community gathered to bid farewell to two extraordinary individuals: Tony and Carol McElhinney. Their legacy, one defined by unwavering dedication, compassion, and a commitment to empowering people with disabilities will continue to inspire.

Tony, a visionary leader, joined CSH in 2002, steering the organization through significant growth and transformation. Under his guidance, CSH expanded their services, constructing new facilities, and establishing innovative programs. The introduction of the National Insurance Disability Scheme (NDIS) presented a unique opportunity, which expanded their reach to support people in employment, accommodation, and community participation.

Carol, a dedicated advocate for individuals with disabilities, has been instrumental in establishing and leading the NDIS Services Department. Her passion and expertise have enabled staff to provide high-quality support to NDIS participants, ensuring they have the tools and resources to live fulfilling lives.

As the community gathered to say goodbye, heartfelt speeches were shared, and tears were shed. Participants expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support and dedication of Tony and Carol. The impact they have made on the lives of countless individuals is immeasurable.

The legacy of Tony and Carol will continue to inspire and guide CSH. Their commitment to excellence, innovation, and compassion will remain the foundation of the organization’s mission.

As they embark on the next chapter in their lives, we wish them all the best and thank them for their invaluable contributions
