Hometown Hero Luke Pople Aims for Paralympic Gold!

Challenge Southern Highlands is proud to support our very own Luke Pople, a star player on the Australian Wheelchair Basketball Team!

Luke’s journey began at 13, playing for his local team, the Wollongong Roller Hawks. Now, a whopping 6 NWBL titles later, he’s setting his sights on a record-breaking 7th!

But that’s not all! Luke’s talent has taken him around the world. He was part of the gold medal-winning teams at the 2014 World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

“Wheelchair basketball has opened so many doors,” says Luke. “I’ve played in Europe for 4 seasons, and this year, I’m training hard to make my Paralympic debut in Paris!” ✈️

Next week, Luke and the Australian team will face Japan in a crucial selection tournament in Melbourne. They’ll be the curtain raiser for the Australian Boomers and Opals at John Cain Arena – what a way to showcase their skills!

Let’s show Luke and team some love! Send him your best wishes as he chases Paralympic gold! #Paralympics #WheelchairBasketball #Illawarra #ChallengeSouthernHighlands
